Farewell 2020

Now that 2020 is almost over - applause here - it’s time to remember the ups and downs that this year has offered to us.

Many of you may think that this has been an awful year with all the coronavirus issue and all that stuff but I couldn’t disagree more. We also need to recognize that some good things happened during the past twelve months. If nothing comes to your mind right now, I’ll be happy to help you with that.

For instance, this year was the real boom of electric mobility and more importantly, electric cars. Thanks to the extraordinary vehicles Tesla produces and its huge success among the general customers, regular brands like Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, Hyundai and many others started to release electric versions of their models. Right now, you have a wide variety of options on the market to purchase a great electric car, which in my opinion is something amazing. Yes, I know they are still a bit too expensive and the number of charging stations may not be yet enough but we are getting there.

Also, this crazy genius that is Elon Musk, kept us entertained watching the many successful rocket launches missions performed by Space X, showing us how cool and green is to reuse the same rocket for several missions.

The exciting world of technology also gave us some cool new devices to keep us enjoying the free time at home, from the new games consoles released a few weeks ago to new and exciting virtual reality headsets. While we are still unable to travel abroad like before, what better way to do it virtually instead?

Smartphones got into an exciting evolution this year, mostly thanks to these new Chinese brands, so nowadays you can buy an excellent phone for less than £300. With this incredible possibility, how needs to pay £800 for an iPhone?

And what about all the benefits we got from the lockdown? Did you fall for a daily routine of exercises at home, as I did? O maybe you started baking like crazy, discovered a new skill you didn’t know you had within yourself, spent more time for those hobbies that the child inside you was craving on? And what about spending more - much more - quality time with your children and your wife/partner? Are you going to tell me that you are not grateful for that? Yes, I know. Some couples couldn’t survive this challenge and things may have ended up badly with constant fights or even divorce, but those that survived this hard time are now stronger than ever before.

The lockdown also provided us with new and exciting ways of communication through the Internet, working from home and buying everything you need online. And even most important than that, we have finally learnt how to keep proper personal hygiene. Bloody hell, we even have learnt how to wash our hands properly! And what do say about the many colds and flu we are avoiding to catch using the face mask? Just amazing!

You know, no matter how good or bad a year might be, it’s not an excuse to affect the way we behave with ourselves and with our others. Life can be challenging sometimes and nobody knows what’s going to happen tomorrow so that’s why we need to stay calm, trying to live our life the best way we can. Be happy, do the things you like to do, don’t forget to connect with nature every so often and everything will be just fine, no matter what the news says about how bad the world is doing.

I don’t know you, but I’m planning to stay positive and happy for the rest of the days left from this year, hoping the next one will be a bit better. But if for some reason is not, does it help to be moody? Does it help to be sad? To be afraid? Does it help to be complaining about everything that happens out of your control? I guess you already know the answer to all that so be grateful for everything you have and make some exciting plans for the future to come, as those will be your biggest motivation to carry on every day. Those will be the main reason for you to getting up from bed every morning, feeling strong and ready for action.

I’m ready for 2021 whatever it brings. Are you?

P.S.: take a look at the video of this great song called I carry on by The Score. Because no matter how many obstacles you encounter in your life, you just need to carry on.

😉.
